In Memoriam: Commissioner Kenny Shinn

K Shinn_175xJune 20, 2019—It is with the greatness sadness that we report the passing of serving NCCCO Commissioner, Kenneth J. Shinn, Jr. Kenny has been associated with NCCCO from the very earliest days and took a leadership role from the outset. Over the past two decades, he notched up a remarkable list of achievements including membership of no less than nine NCCCO Exam Management Committees and Task Forces (remarkably, chairing three of them), as well as, more recently, NCCCO’s Crane Type Advisory Group (CTAG), and the NCCCO Practical Exam Audit Committee (PEAC) which he also chaired. He was also an experienced and very active NCCCO Practical Examiner and NCCCO Practical Auditor. He had been a NCCCO Commissioner since 2010.

Services were held Friday, June 14, 2019, in Spring Lake, NJ. Messages of condolence can be sent to his son T.J. Shinn at TJShinn50@yahoo.com.

Kenny’s obituary is posted here: https://www.obrienfuneralhome.com/memorials/kenneth-shinn/3866054/index.php. He was the subject of a Commissioner profile in ACT magazine last year, which can be read here: http://nccco.org/nccco/about-nccco/organizational-structure/kenny-shinn.

Kenny will be formally recognized for his selfless commitment to the NCCCO mission, and to crane safety in general, at the 47th Biannual Meeting of the Commission to be held October 25, 2019, in Crosby (Houston), Texas.
